La Canfora called Mike Vick (ribs) "clearly very uncomfortable and in great pain," while confirming that Vick is unlikely to practice this week. Kolb didn't deliver the ball downfield coming off the bench in Week 4, but he couldn't have been much more productive in two starts last year. Kolb dropped 718 yards and accounted for five touchdowns in those games, completing 64.7 percent pof his passes. DeSean Jackson averaged five grabs for 124 yards and two touchdowns in Kolb's 2009 starts, and Brent Celek was nearly as productive. You could do worse than Kolb as a Week 5 spot start.

Well, thanks for clearing it up, Andy. It does seem like Vick has avoided a major injury, but his status for Week 5 is very much up in the air. Note that Vick's cartilage damage is up high in the second and third ribs, which could make it difficult for him to raise his arms for throws. He certainly won't feel as comfortable taking off on runs. Reid said "we'll see" when asked if Kevin Kolb will take first-team reps on Wednesday. If the Eagles bring in Jeff Garcia or another free agent, we'll know Vick is likely out.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Coach Andy Reid confirmed it would be a "stretch" for Mike Vick (rib) to play in Week 5. Kolb will be the starter against a mediocre 49ers pass defense. He's worth a look for Vick, Tom Brady, and Ben Roethlisberger owners.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>In limited action so far, the offense has managed just 5.0 yards per pass attempt and 4.4 yards per carry under Kolb compared to 7.3 per pass and 5.5 per run under Vick. Kolb has demonstrated in the past that he can produce QB1 numbers, but a shaky pocket presence and poor pass blocking have him checking down constantly of late. He's a risk/reward choice as Rotoworld's No. 14 quarterback option this week.

Coordinator Marty Mornhinweg reiterated that Vick's status won't be determined until late in the week, but the game-plan is currently being "directed" toward Kevin Kolb. Although there's a slim possibility of Vick returning for Friday's practice, the most likely scenario is Kolb starting against the Falcons on Sunday.

Michael Vick (ribs) only "has a chance to dress." Kolb led the Birds to a Week 5 win over San Francisco, throwing for 253 yards and a touchdown. His outlook is much worse this week, however, with left tackle Jason Peters (knee) out. Fill-in LT King Dunlap is a significant downgrade, and will square off with red-hot Falcons RE John Abraham. Kolb already has shaky pocket presence. He's likely to spend most of Sunday's game under duress.

Reid said only, 'Yeah, he's a starting quarterback now." The Eagles' team-released transcript claimed Reid said, "Yeah, he's the starting quarterback." The job appears to be up for grabs again, with Kevin Kolb beating down the door to move back on top. Kolb would go a long way toward supplanting Vick by beating the Titans in Week 7. The Eagles have a bye in Week 8.

It's as expected. Michael Vick (ribs) isn't ready, but could be good to go following the team's Week 8 bye. If Kolb fares well again this weekend, there could be a quarterback controversy again in Philly. For the record, Reid has said he isn't thinking about that possibility and is focused on Tennessee.
